what you're seeing

the faces of new hampshire is a work in progress. to date, i've shot a few sessions as well as courted random faces in found environs when given permission, when and where i could.

it began as a passion project, after an LA photographer friend and i talked (yes, late into the night) about how we wished we were bob dylan. after commiserating about our lack of being bob dylan, i agreed to do what i could to capture what i consider that unique and essential element that makes all of us our own bob dylans.

most recent is new faces new hampshire with the inclusion of refugees and immigrants now residing in manchester, nh. these were taken for a photo essay cultural diversity showing at manchester city hall—thanks to the manchester arts commission. each subject is shot on 35mm film with natural light, handheld, using a nikon fm2. all lenses are manual.

some of these photos, along with selects from previous posts, hung as posters throughout manchester, nh for the TEDx inside out project, october 2011.

much gratitude for the those who have donated their time and services so that the cultural diversity photos could be shot on film: gary samson and michael wynne at new hampshire institute of art, concord camera, the international institute & omar at the sahara international market. thank you especially to ann kelley at the manchester arts commission and kathleen schmidt at good good manchester.

NOTE: even though you can, please don't use any of these photos without letting me know. thanks.
